A woman driving the wrong way on a Kentucky highway has died after a fiery crash. Police say her SUV slammed head-on into a coal truck on US 23 in Johnson County near the Floyd County line.
Witnesses say 33-year old Valerie Spurlock's SUV exploded and burst into flames after the collision. The coal truck flew across all lanes of traffic and landed in a ditch on the other side of the highway.
Police believe Spurlock drove on the wrong side of the road for several hundred feet before the crash, they're now trying to figure out why. The coroner says Spurlock's body went to Frankfort for an autopsy to determine a cause of death. The coal truck driver was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
