Council Rejects Historic Zoning For Lexington Neighborhood

Video will be available shortly

In an eight to six vote, the Urban County Council decided against designating the Chevy Chase Hollywood Hills area as historic.

The meeting went on for hours. Council members finally voted around midnight.

The division of historic preservation says they made the proposal in an effort to preserve some of the older homes and keep the history alive. Others who lived there say it's fine the way it is and they don't want someone else telling them what they can and can't do with their property.

The zoning change would've required any exterior changes to homes such as: additions, demolitions, or pools would have to be approved by a review board.

The issue can be brought before the Planning Commission again, at any time.
