Ex-Presbyterian Treasurer Avoiding Prison With Payments

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A former treasurer of the Presbyterian Church U-S-A in Louisville is repaying what she stole from the denomination to avoid prison time. Judith Golliher must complete the repayments and stay out of further trouble.

The 54-year-old Golliher faces sentencing August 16th in Jefferson Circuit Court after pleading guilty earlier this month to eight felony counts of theft by unlawful taking. She was accused of taking 102-thousand dollars from the church between October 2005 and June 2006 and of causing additional financial losses.

She's already repaid the 102-thousand, but owes just over 30-thousand dollars more. Golliher faces ten years in prison if she commits another crime during the probationary period. Golliher was fired in July last year.
