Limited Edition Woodford Reserve Whiskey Given A Wine Finish

Print

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - One of Kentucky's top bourbon labels is experimenting with used wine barrels to produce a new twist on an old classic.

This month Woodford Reserve is unveiling a limited edition bourbon in which the whiskey spent a few months aging in barrels previously used to store wine.

The result is called Woodford Reserve's Sonoma-Cutrer (coo-trair) Finish. Officials at Brown Foreman, which owns Woodford Reserve, hope the whiskey will help Woodford Reserve become more competitive in the super-premium bourbon market.

The bottles will be sold for 90 dollars a piece. That's three times the cost of a normal bottle of Woodford Reserve.

Officials expect the bourbon to go fast. Only 900 cases will be made available.
