JAMESTOWN, Ky. (AP) - There's still plenty of water in Lake Cumberland, depending on where you are, despite lowered water levels.
The Army Corps of Engineers lowered the popular southern Kentucky Lake by about 40 feet earlier this year, as repairs are being made on leaking Wolf Creek Dam.
The (Louisville) Courier-Journal reports that state officials say most of the lake remains usable even with the lowered level. Hilda Legg of Governor Fletcher's Lake Cumberland office says the lake's surface is now about 37-thousand acres, down from 52-thousand acres.
Some marinas have worked overtime to move docks and adjust to the lower lake level.
Alligator One marina has been the most affected. It is all but dry and will have to move its entire operation, about 400 boat slips, downstream this fall.
