Jury deliberates 2nd day in bid-rigging case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A jury has begun a second day of
deliberations in the corruption trial of former Kentucky
Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert and prominent road
contractor Leonard Lawson.
Before resuming their deliberations, jurors watched a video
previously shown in court featuring a meeting between the
government's star witness, Jim Rummage, and Lawson employee Brian
Billings. Billings also is charged but his trial is scheduled for
later.
Lawson and Nighbert are accused of conspiracy, obstruction of
justice, bribery and other charges in what the prosecution says was
a scheme to steer internal project cost estimates to Lawson's
companies. Much of the defense has centered on Rummage's
credibility.
