Fourth Of July Showers Send Firework Spectators Running For Cover

Posted: Wed 11:09 PM, Jul 04, 2007

People who came out for the Red, White and Boom got a different kind of boom this fourth of July. Rain, lightning, and thunder delayed many of the concerts. But country star Gary Allen did take the stage and give dedicated fans a show.

The turnout earlier in the day was large. But as the weather soured many took cover under tents and bridges, or packed up and left.

There was some concern the fireworks wouldn't go off. But Mayor Newberry assured everyone the show would go on. Shortly after ten the fireworks began. Thousands of people downed the streets to watch.
