King's Island Roller Coaster That Injured 27 Reopens

MASON, Ohio (AP) - The Son of Beast has returned at Kings Island near Cincinnati.

The roller coaster was reopened yesterday afternoon.

The coaster was shut down last year after it malfunctioned and 27 people were hospitalized.

Since then, the park has removed the Son of Beast's loop to allow it to use lighter, smoother-riding cars.

The Son of Beast was touted as the world's tallest and fastest wooden coaster before the accident.

Kings Island spokesman Craig Ross says the park may soon reopen a second shuttered ride.

The Drop Zone was idled last month after an accident on a similar ride in Louisville.
