Lexington Family Saved From Burning Apartment

Video will be available shortly

Fire investigators now say children playing with fireworks caused a massive apartment fire in Lexington.

It started just after Seven Monday night at an apartment on Osage Court. The fire quickly spread to another building. When firefighters arrived on scene, three floors were in flames. It took fire crews more than an hour to get the fire under control. The building collapsed shortly later.

Two teenage brothers who live in the area went door to door telling people who live in the building about the fire. The brothers helped pull one family from the burning building.

Firefighters say the fire was started by children playing with fireworks in an abandoned apartment. All of the children are under the age of 12. Investigators say the case will be presented to the juvenile prosecutor for possible charges.

The American Red Cross is helping the families displaced by the fire.
