Special Session Standoff Continues

Video will be available shortly

Governor Ernie Fletcher says lawmakers need to take some time to resolve issues before continuing a special session of the General Assembly.

The governor will adjourn the session until July 30th. Fletcher
says the down time will allow for a cooling off period so House
lawmakers will return to Frankfort. House members voted to adjourn
last week, saying the special session was unnecessary.

House Speaker Jody Richards said it's unlikely House members
will reconvene and as far as he's concerned, the session is over.
Senate leaders had been working since last week on a number of
items, but need House lawmakers to return to make any real
progress.
