Five teens charged in western Ky. slaying

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - Five teenagers have been charged in
western Kentucky with capital murder and robbery after a man was
shot to death in his home.

The Daviess County sheriff's office says three of the five teens
were armed with baseball bats, one with a claw hammer and one with
what's believed to have been a shotgun.

The sheriff's office says 23-year-old Joshua E. Newcomb of Owensboro was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday afternoon
after suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the neck.

Two Owensboro 18-year-olds, Joshua Orr and Dakota Galloway, were
arrested, as were three juveniles. Sheriff Keith Cain told the
Messenger-Inquirer the juveniles are all 17.

Cain's office says the five knocked on the door, forced their
way in and demanded money, guns and drugs. Officers say Newcomb
fled to a bedroom but was shot when a gun was fired through the
door.
