Kentucky Soldiers Return From Iraq

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - About 150 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division have returned to Fort Campbell from Iraq.

The Army says the soldiers from the 594th Transportation Company, which returned yesterday, logged nearly eight million miles transporting cargo across Iraq and Kuwait with their Air Force counterparts.

The company deployed separately from the division, which returned last fall from a year-long deployment.

The practice of sending units from a single division on staggered deployments has become more common under a Pentagon transformation of the military that began shortly before the war in
Iraq.

The 101st, based at Fort Campbell on the Kentucky-Tennessee border, is preparing to deploy again in the coming months.
