Both Madison and Estill Counties' salt supplies are running low, and so are the county's road salt budgets.
Madison County Roads Director LeeRoy Brock says his department is already $75,000 over budget for the year. In Estill County, Judge Executive Wallace Taylor says, they've spent more on salt this year than they have in the last three years.
Both counties say the budgetary crunches are being caused by the large amount of snow activity we've seen this winter. Normally these counties will only have a few big snows per season. This winter they've had several big snows every week.
