New Speed Limit Signs Go Up

Department of Transportation employees spent Tuesday morning in Laurel County putting up the new signs telling drivers they can travel a little faster.

Some Eastern Kentuckians are concerned the higher speed will make the roads more hazardous.

But Department of Transportation officials say people were driving 70 miles per hour before it was legal.

They say studies have been done that show the higher speed limit will not make the roads more dangerous.

But KY Vehicle Enforcement officials say higher speeds can make an accident worse.
