Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
Students at a Pulaski County school are dealing with a difficult loss Friday.
They're remembering 5-year-old Gabriel Black, who died in a crash Wednesday night.
Black was a kindergartner at Burnside Elementary.
Friday was the first day of school since the crash. Students had been off all week because of snow.
It's not an easy day for teachers and students at the school, because the principal says everyone there is like a family.
"All of our students are very close," Principal April Mounce said.
Grief counselors were on hand Friday, helping Black's classmates deal with his death.
Gabriel died in a crash near Burnside Wednesday night. His mother and younger sisters survived.
Even though Gabriel was a kindergartner, this was his second year at Burnside Elementary. He attended preschool there last year, and knew many of the other children.
One of Gabriel's sisters, Cameron Black, is still hospitalized at Kentucky Children's Hospital. She was listed in fair condition Friday afternoon. Friends say she remembers the accident, but doesn't understand what happened to her older brother, whom she called "Bubby."
Funeral arrangments are pending at McCreary Funeral Home in Whitley City. Friends say the Black family is from McCreary County.
A bank in Somerset is also working to set up an account in Gabriel Black's name early next week.
