Police could be closing in on arrest for toddler's death

Investigators could be closing in on solving the mystery around the death of a toddler.

An arrest in the case could come as early as Monday.

Sources tell 27 NEWSFIRST state police have a person of interest in 22-month-old Danika Charles' death.

Investigators say the Powell County toddler died Friday night from blunt force trauma to multiple parts of her body.

Investigators say Danika's mother found the little girl unresponsive Friday afternoon inside their home in the Vaughns Mill community.

The girl was rushed to Clark Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The coroner says Danika died of blunt force trauma to her head, chest, abdomen, legs, and arms.

Danika's mother says the girl was in and out of the hospital for the last three weeks for unexplained hair loss and bruises.

Police were at the girl's home Sunday to investigate.

They're also trying to learn more about who was around Danika before she died.

Funeral arrangements have now been set for Danika Charles.

Her visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. At Hearne Funeral Home in Stanton.

The funeral will follow Wednesday afternoon at 1.
