Throughout the day friends and family have been stopping by this spot where 21-year-old Tommy Richardson crashed his truck and died just hours later.

Scarlett Richardson looks through pictures of her son as the reality of his death settles in for their family.

"I can't imagine life without him," says Tara Richardson, Tommy's sister.

Police say 21-year old Tommy Richardson was driving along Hume Bedford Road in Bourbon County around 9:00 Sunday night when he missed a curve and lost control, slamming into a tree.

"We heard the screech," says Frank Vecchio, the first person on scene to help before emergency responders arrived but knew it wasn't good.

Tommy Richardson died at UK hospital just after 2:00 Monday morning. Friends heard the news shortly after and began visiting the crash site, bringing flowers and crosses.

He was full of love and full of life, says Scarlett Richardson.

Tommy's family still can't believe the man they describe as full of life was taken so soon.

About a quarter of a mile down the road from the recent crash site, lies another highway memorial, where a young man was killed.

Those familiar with this stretch of road says it's a story that they hear all too often.

Police say alcohol was found in the car, but say it's uncertain whether alcohol was in his system.
