Video will be available shortly

Williamsburg, Ky. - A 29 year old Whitley County man was shot and killed last night in an exchange of gunfire with police after he allegedly set fire to a neighbor's home.

Kentucky State Police say the incident happened on Limestone Branch Road near Williiamsburg in Whitley County. Trooper Don Trosper says the London Post responded to a report of an armed, intoxicated man who had set fire to a neighbor's home.

Troopers and officers from the Williamsburg City Police, and the Whitley County Sheriff's Office discovered a home engulfed in flames and located a male subject near the burning home.

Police say they attempted to talk with the man, he made what they describe as a "threatening move with his weapon" and shots were fired, killing the subject, who has been identified as John Partin, age 29, of Limestone Branch Road.

Trooper Gary Martin, a 24 year veteran of the KSP and Trooper Scott Bunch, a nine year veteran of the force were both involved in the incident. They have been placed on administrative duty pending an internal investigation of the incident.
