New lift for the handicapped unveiled at Lexington's Government Center

It's now a bit easier for handicapped people to get into Lexington's Government Center.

A new lift was unveiled there Wednesday morning.

It gives handicapped people the access to attend commission meetings and committee meetings, as well as get to the mayor's office.

The new lift replaces one that had been used for several years.

The plan to get the new lift in place had been in the works for around two years.

The lift can hold up to 700 pounds, which is 300 pounds more than the last lift.
