An Anderson County man is glad his best friend is still alive. Biscuit the dog nearly drowned after falling into a icy lake, but was rescued by county fire fighters.

Biscuit, a Tennessee Mountain Cur, was running on the icy water at Beaver Lake in Anderson County Sunday when she fell in. Her owner Joseph Bowling and a bystander tried for an hour to get her out unsuccessfully. Bowling was convinced his dog was going to die until the Anderson County water rescue team showed up.

Divers went into the water, broke up the ice, and swam the dog to safety. The fire fighters had just finished up icy water rescue training only a few days before.
