A Lexington ice cream truck driver told police he was kidnapped late Monday night at gunpoint.

Police say it started at Merino and Pine Streets near downtown.

The driver told police a dark-colored Camry stopped behind him and three men inside the car approached him. One man had a gun.

He told police the men put him in the trunk of their car for about ten minutes until he heard the car stop and the people inside get out.

The man then pulled the emergency latch and escaped the car without injury on Georgetown Street.

He later called police from Frosty Treats of Louisville on National Avenue in Lexington.

Investigators say they're questioning the truck driver's story.
