Man Who Claims Beating While In Police Custody Files Suit

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A lawsuit has been filed against the Fayette County Detention Center by a 24-year-old man who claims he was beaten by four Lexington jail officers last summer.

Scott Howe claims in the suit that while he was being processed into the jail, four unnamed correction officers roughed him up. He claims they injured his foot, tearing the nail on his big toe and struck his head, causing a concussion.

Court documents say Howe was handcuffed at the time.

F-B-I officials have said they are investigating whether officers at the jail have used excessive force on inmates. An FBI spokesman says no one has been charged.
