Talks Between US and Iran To Continue This Week

Video will be available shortly

TEHRAN, Iran (AP)- Iran's ambassador to Iraq confirms he's going to meet tomorrow with the U-S ambassador in Baghdad.

The talks, to be devoted to security in Iraq, represent the second official meeting between the U-S and Iran in the past two months, following a diplomatic freeze imposed by the U-S after the 1979 Embassy takeover in Tehran.

Iran's government news agency says the ambassador will be accompanied by officials from the Iranian foreign ministry and national security council.

Baghdad has been eager to get the talks going, seeing the U-S and Iran as the nations most crucial to its future. Iraqi officials are to attend tomorrow's talks as observers.

After talks in May, the U-S continued to accuse Iran of arming Iraqi Shiites and fomenting violence against American troops.
