The flash flood threat increases late tonight and into Thursday. Rounds of storms may dump a lot of rain across our region.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Public Service Commission plans to
hold a series of public forums on rate increases proposed by LG&E
and Kentucky Utilities.
Commission spokesman Andrew Melnykovych told The Courier-Journal
the meetings will be held in April and May and a formal hearing
will be held in Frankfort on June 8.
Melnykovych says utility regulators have gotten about 75 letters
and e-mails opposing LG&E's proposal to hike electric rates by 12
percent and gas rates by nearly 9 percent in part to cover repairs
from two historic storms and replace older gas mains.
He says nearly 100 written protests have been received over
Kentucky Utilities' request to increase residential electric rates
by nearly 14 percent in part to cover repairs from storms and to
help build a new electric generating plant.
