A school community has banded together to keep the memory alive of a former classmate, killed in a crash.

George Rogers Clark High School senior Shawna Taylor was killed last month, after her vehicle struck a utility pole on U.S. 60 near Winchester.

Since her death, her friends have been raising money to help her family.

First, they held a bake sale that raised about $1,200. The money helped pay for Taylor's headstone.

Now, students are selling rubber bracelets in Taylor's honor.

"She wouldn't want us crying all the time, so we ban together to put our emotions in something that is good for her," Tiffany Weber, a student at George Rogers Clark, said.

The bracelets are selling for $3 each. Organizers say they will likely run out of the first batch of about 200, so they're planning to order more of them.

The school is also planning a concert to remember Taylor. Her friends say they're also planning to set up a scholarship fund in her name.
