The treasurer of a Central Kentucky elementary school's parent teacher organization faces charges after police say she stole thousands of dollars from it.
State police arrested 41-year-old Stacey Harney, of Cynthiana, Tuesday.
Harney is now charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking, and nine counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument. She was indicted by the Harrison County Grand Jury.
Harney is the treasurer of the Northside Elementary Parent Teacher Organization.
The investigation started after the Harrison County Board of Education contacted police, after noticing some money was missing.
Police say Harney was writing checks from the organization to herself. She's accused of stealing more than $10,000 of the organization's money.
