Mt. Sterling community raising money for teen killed in ATV accident

A community is mourning the loss of a beloved teen today who was injured in an ATV accident last week. 17-year-old Jessica Fulkerson passed away late this week from injuries sustained in the crash. Now friends are raising money to go toward the expenses the family is facing.

Gymnastics is what 17-year-old Jessica Fulkerson enjoyed doing at TK's Gymnastics in Montgomery County.

"Everyone loved her. Everytime she came in she would hug you at random", says Nellie Hunt.

Now it's that place that she enjoyed going to that's raising money for a fund set up at Traditional Bank in Mt. Sterling.

"We're pulling together selling t-shirts. They're gonna be lime green and will say 'I flip for Jessica' because that was her favorite color. We're also providing bracelets that are gonna say "What would JDF do". It's just honoring someone so young and the family could really use the help", says Nellie Hunt.

It's one of many ways friends of the young teen killed in an ATV accident are pulling together and paying tribute.

"We're also going to be putting together a parade in the next few weeks because she really loved to flip in the parades", says Nellie Hunt.

They plan to get other gymnastic centers involved across the area.

"We're just spreading the word and trying to reach as many as we can to help the family out and get through and try to ease the pain as much as we can", says Nellie Hunt.

The shirts they are currently selling are $10 and the armbands are $5. You can pre-order yours at TK's Gymnastics in Mt. Sterling. You can still donate to the fund for Jessica Fulkerson set up at the Traditional Bank in Mt. Sterling.

A "Cruise for Jessica" event was also held in Montgomery County this evening to raise money that will go toward the fun. We'll have more on this later tonight on WKYT.
