Special Legislative Session Officially Ends

The Kentucky General Assembly adjourned on Monday afternoon, ending the special session.

Governor Fletcher called the session earlier this month to consider an energy tax incentive plan aimed at luring a coal gassification plant to Kentucky. Fletcher had also asked lawmakers to pass other legislation that would, among other things, ban the domestic partner benefits at state universities.

Lawmakers were also asked to consider passing more than 420 million dollars in construction projects that Fletcher had vetoed from the state budget.

Lawmakers have said they would likely try again for an energy package in mid-August.
