A teenager is dead after crash on a Lexington road.

It happened just before 9 p.m. Monday night on Bryan Station road not far from the Bourbon County line.

Police say a car full of teenagers crashed into a fence then hit another fence before coming to rest.

Police say the driver, 14-year-old Larry Chowning, III, of Lexington was killed instantly.

At least four other teens were in the car, but suffered only minor injuries.

Witnesses say the car was going more than 100 miles per hour before it crashed.

Janet Bacon claims she knows all six teenagers. She thinks they were probably "hill hopping." She says teenagers often reach high speeds on Bryan Station road, and other rural roads, trying to go airborne over the tops of hills.

Bacon says Chowning's father nearly died in a similar crash years ago. She also says the car belongs to one of the passengers involved in the crash.

A toxicology test will be done on Chowning's body, but police say they do not expect drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The names of the other people involved in the crash have not been released.
