Toddler Drowns In Grandfather's Pool

Authorities say a young boy has drowned in a pool at his grandfather's central Kentucky home.

Coroner Billy Clark says two-year-old Mason Curtsinger was pronounced dead Monday night at Nicholas County Hospital in Carlisle,
about 35 miles northeast of Lexington.

Nicholas County Sheriff Dick Garrett tells the Lexington Herald-Leader that the boy was in the care of his grandfather, who had recently installed an above ground pool.

When relatives noticed the boy missing, they began searching and
found him in the pool shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Relatives were taking the boy to the hospital when an ambulance
intercepted them. Emergency personnel tried unsuccessfully to revive the boy.
