Scattered showers and storms continue to push across the region for this Friday. Local high water issues remain possible through the evening hours.
Emergency crews in Laurel County got the call early Monday morning and responded to a fire that destroyed six businesses. They say the flames were so intense even their fire truck couldn't escape the heat.
The call went out around 3:15 Monday morning. A driver on US 25 saw heavy smoke coming from the roof. When crews got on scene, the smoke turned to flames, and within minutes the fire was consuming the building.
Firefighters tried to attack the fire from above but even their truck suffered damage from the fire, with paint peeling and glass melting.
The building was home to six businesses including a cell phone store, a barber shop and a salon.
State police investigators and the state fire marshal are still searching through what's left of the building, looking for any clues as to what may have started the fire.
