Car hits house, driver taken to hospital

A Lexington family has a lot of cleaning up to do after a car crashed into their home.

The woman inside the home was sleeping on the opposite end of the house on Burkewood Drive, off Liberty Road, when a silver Lexus crashed into it around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The homeowner tells 27 NEWSFIRST she thought someone was trying to break into the house because of the loud noise. She wasn't hurt.

The driver, 29-year-old Travis Faircloth, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police aren't sure what caused the crash.

Family members are trying to help the woman clean up the mess.

When Faircloth was taken to the hospital, workers there say they found drugs on him and called police. They charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police don't know yet if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
