A Lexington police officer is rushed to the hospital overnight, after being injured during an arrest.

Police say an officer was trying to arrest a woman near Fourth and Race Streets early this morning for loitering for prostitution, when the suspect bit the officer.

Officer Stacy Shannon went to UK Hospital to be checked out.
Police say it was a pretty clean bite, but they want Officer Shannon to be checked out for any problems.

Police finally arrested 39-year-old Tammie Howard.

She's charged with resisting arrest, third-degree assault, and loitering for prostitution.

Howard was just released from jail on July 25th, on criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct charges.

Officer Shannon has been released from the hospital, and is recovering at home.
