Woman Burned In Explosion Dies At Hospital

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A 38-year-old Louisville woman is dead as the result of burns suffered in an explosion at her residence on Saturday.

Deputy Coroner Jack Arnold says Molly Martin died yesterday after suffering burns over 95 percent of her body Saturday. Shortly after the blast, firefighters found Martin in the front yard of her east side home (on Eastview Avenue off Trevilian Way).

Louisville Gas and Electric Company spokesman Chip Keeling says Martin was using an industrial buffer to remove paint in her basement.

Authorities say fumes from a cleaning solution built up in the room and eventually ignited, triggering the explosion.

Some 40 firefighters responded to the explosion, which shattered a front window and left household items scattered across neighborhood lawns.
