A gaggle of geese living near a
Louisville food distributor near the city's zoo will soon be gone.
Frozen food dispenser manufacturer Taylor Enterprises of
Kentucky has received a permit from the federal government to catch
and kill up to 25 geese living outside the plant sometime before
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service official Carmen Simonton told The
Louisville Courier-Journal that the business received the permit
because the birds have created "unsanitary conditions" there.
Because Canada geese are federally protected, a federal
migratory bird depredation permit is needed to capture or kill the
birds, according to the permit application.
