A man was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after his car crashed into a tree.
The accident happened around 11:30 Wednesday morning on Highway 627 in Clark County, near the Bourbon County line.
The Sheriff thinks the driver was speeding, when he ran off the road and hit the tree.
"He was trapped in the vehicle," Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue said. "(The crash) threw the engine out into the field, and it caught the field on fire. So it was a pretty violent collision with a tree."
Investigators also think alcohol played a role in the crash.
The driver was airlifted to UK Hospital. His name and condition have not been released.
