Former UK center and current NBA player Randolph Morris was set to appear in court Tuesday afternoon, however, neither Morris, or his attorney, showed up.
Instead, a person representing Randolph Morris' attorney appeared in court and entered a not guilty plea on his behalf, waiving his formal arraignment.
Morris was arrested and charged with reckless driving.
Police pulled him over on Richmond Road near Lake Park Road.
Officers say Morris had been drinking, but was not legally drunk.
Morris will be back in court August 31st for a preliminary hearing.
He must appear for that at 10 am.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - New York Knicks player Randolph Morris was arrested in Lexington early Tuesday and charged with reckless driving, a court official said.
Morris, a former center for Kentucky, signed with the Knicks in March, just days after playing for Kentucky in the NCAA tournament.
He was arrested by Lexington police at 3:10 a.m. EDT, District Court Deputy Clerk Glenda Walls said. He was released on a $100 bond, but had a court appearance scheduled Tuesday afternoon, she said.
The 6-foot-11, 260-pound Morris declared for the 2005 draft but was not chosen. He returned to Kentucky and played for the Wildcats in
this year's NCAA tournament before signing with the Knicks in March
as a free agent.
