Some areas have picked up better than a foot of snow. We still have several more inches possible through the afternoon.
They're trying to improve the environment, one tree at a time.
Thursday morning, Lexington city leaders announced their plans for the 12th annual Reforest the Bluegrass event.
7,000 tree seedlings will be planted at Veterans Park, in a seven acre plot.
The plot is adjacent to a stream that carries storm water through lowlands and the West Hickman Creek and watershed areas.
Participants say the reforestation efforts will improve the quality of the environment long term.
The Reforest the Bluegrass event is now in its 12th year.
So far, 175,000 tree seedlings have been planted throughout several parks and greenways in Lexington.
This year, event organizers hope to plant all 7,000 seedlings in just four hours.
Reforest the Bluegrass will be held at Veterans Park Saturday, April 17 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
