Hundreds lined up for a chance to get their hands on a special Maker's Mark bottle bearing the image of U.K. basketball coach John Calipari, which went on sale Friday morning.
A line formed Thursday outside the Liquor Barn in Beaumont Centre in Lexington and grew to more than 200 people by 8 a.m. Friday.
Liquor Barn officials tell 27 NEWSFIRST this is the earliest they have ever seen people line up for a collectible bottle.
Lines formed at other area liquor stores, as well.
The special bottle featuring Coach Cal is one in a special series of bottles inspired by U.K. basketball.
All proceeds go toward the U.K. Symphony Orchestra Outreach Program.
The demand is so large, tickets for Coach Cal's signature for the bottles will be distributed by Ticketmaster.
Only 1,200 tickets will be available, beginning Saturday, April 3, at 10 a.m.
The signing will take place Friday, April 9, at Keeneland.
Meanwhile, 8,000 additional empty bottles are being sold, only online. You can find the link to that below.
