Fountains Hot Spot For People Trying To Beat The Heat
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Record-setting heat is gripping Kentucky and much of the central part of the country. The heat has people across the state making concessions, from preparing for home football games to opening homeless shelters.
Lexington tied a record high temperature for Tuesday at 97 degrees. THe record high was shattered in Louisville where the temperature topped the century mark coming in at 101 degrees.
The National Weather Service in Louisville predicted temperatures at or near 100 degrees for the rest of the week. Louisville and Lexington tied records for warm low temperatures Tuesday morning.
E.On U.S spokesman Chip Keeling says Kentucky's two largest utilities could set an all-time record for the number of megawatts of electricity used in a day. E.On is the parent company of LG & E and Kentucky Utilities.
