For months, crews have been working to bury power lines at the construction site near Downtown Lexington.
On Friday, they took the final step in finishing that part of the project.
Crews started taking the utility poles down.
The renovation of South Limestone is now entering its final stages.
New bricks are being placed on the sidewalk, new light poles are going up, and the power lines and telephone cables that used to run above the street are now buried in the ground.
If everything continues to go as planned, crews expect to have all of the work on South Limestone finished, and the road reopened, by July 1.
Business owners along South Limestone say the city has worked with them during this process, but they'll be glad when the road is reopened.
