A crash involving a garbage truck caused some big traffic troubles on busy New Circle Road.

Just after noon on Friday, the driver of the Rumpke truck lost control and crashed through the guardrail. The truck went down an embankment before stopping.

The crash happened on the inner loop, just before the Old Frankfort Pike exit.

Both people who were in the truck were taken to the hospital, but we are told their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Clean-up crews were on the scene for hours and one lane of the inner loop stayed shut down, causing a big traffic back-up.

The truck was eventually pulled out and towed away. All lanes were back open at around 5:30 on Friday afternoon.
