Father sentenced to 15 year in infant daughter's death

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A Frankfort man was sentenced to 15 years
in prison on Friday in the death of his infant daughter, who was
exposed to crack cocaine smoke.

Michael McIntyre, 23, and his girlfriend, Jamie Jockers, were
accused of smoking crack in the presence of their 5-month-old
daughter, Brooklyn P. McIntyre, and two other children. Toxicology
results showed the baby died in March 2006 of acute cocaine
intoxication.

McIntyre pleaded guilty in June to manslaughter, wanton
endangerment and being a persistent felony offender.

His sentence will be served consecutively with a 10-year
sentence stemming from four other cases, including a charge of
trafficking in a controlled substance, Assistant Commonwealth's
Attorney Dana Todd said.

Jockers, 24, was charged with murder and wanton endangerment.
Under the plea agreement, McIntyre will be obligated to testify
against her. Jockers' trial is scheduled for Sept. 26.

Jockers' two other children were removed from the home.
