Woodford County Schools still locked down because of escapee

Derek Capozzi's escape has impacted the way officials in Woodford County are running schools.

All county schools remain on lock down Friday, since Capozzi is still on the loose.

Capozzi escaped less than a mile from Woodford County Middle School Thursday.

Schools across the county quickly responded by going on lock down. Officials also required parents to come to the schools to get their children.

"I appreciate the extra security that was taken, making sure everybody went home to the right people and not going home to an empty house," parent Valerie Poole said.

While buses were running in Woodford County Friday morning, all exterior doors at each school remained locked, and all visitors must show an ID before checking in.

Friday afternoon's dismissal is expected to be just like any other day. If plans do change, parents will be notified using an automated messaging system.
