Workers at Clarke Power Services say an unexpected chance to work on a piece of American history was sobering.

"Sent cold chills up my back and a tear to my eye," said Daniel Kearns.

Rescue 5 is a former Fire Department of the City of New York truck that responded to the World Trade Center on 9/11. Eleven of the firefighters it carried to the Twin Towers were killed in the attacks. Today, it serves as a rolling memorial to those who lost their lives in the attacks. After a recent trip to Bristol, TN the truck broke down near Berea. That's where Clarke Power Services comes into play.

"It's just real cool to be able to help them out and keep something going," said Andrew Morguson, a worker at Clarke Power Services.

The manager, Tim Stankiewicz, decided to repair the truck for just cost and labor, cutting the price nearly in half. Those who repaired the truck said it was a special privilege.

"I was a senior in high school when 9/11 hit and it's gratifying kind of to be able to remember this and preserve it and keep it out there for young kids who don't really know what it is," said Kearns.

Word spread throughout the firefighter community that the truck was here in Georgetown. Lieutenant Randy Catlette of the Scott County Fire Department stopped by to see it.

"To actually see the vehicle here, it's pretty heart-wrenching, actually," he said.

After the unscheduled stop in Scott County, the truck will head to Iowa for a Labor Day event there. 343 firefighters and paramedics were killed in the attacks.
