Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - It was 9:30 Friday night and the party at a Corbin home was apparently just getting started, and possibly out of control.
“They’re laying in the road, naked. There’s like 3 or 4 girls and I seen one guy,” the caller is heard telling the Laurel Co. 911 dispatcher in a tape obtained by WKYT.
The concerned driver called for help when she says the teenaged girls didn’t seem to care they didn’t have any clothes on.
Dispatcher: “Are they partying there?”
Caller: “Yeah, they’re drunk. They’re wasted. And they’re probably, uh, high,” the caller said during the call, about 9:30 Friday night on Hanes Baker Rd.
Once officers arrived, the caller’s assumption of the girls being allegedly drunk was backed up.
“14, 15 and 16 year olds. All under the influence of alcoholic beverages,” said Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo.
Police charged the only adult in the home, 40 year old Glenn Adkins, who they say was asleep and said he didn’t know the kids were in the street, naked.
“I want to plead not guilty, all the way across the board,” Adkins said during his video arraignment from jail Monday morning.
Adkins said very little else in court but did try to get out of jail, saying he’s supposed to start work Friday at a Corbin funeral home.
But the judge kept the bond the same. Police say one of the girls involved is his daughter.
Caller: “I pulled over and I said, are you guys OK? And they started laughing and said, ‘yeah.’ And I said well, ‘you guys need to put some clothes on.’ And she said, ‘Oh, OK, yeah, we’ll work on it.’”
Adkins declined an offer to give his side of the story from jail.
