WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) Police have released the recordings of the call for help a man made to 911 after they say someone broke into his home in Versailles and shot him.
Versailes police were called to the home on Dale Avenue early Tuesday morning. The man who lives there told them someone had come into his apartment and shot him.
The 911 call came in just after 5:20 AM. The man who called police had some difficulty answering dispatchers and can be heard moaning in pain before giving them information.
Despite suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach the man, who relatives identified as Alvin Manley, was able to give that dispatcher some details.
The dispatcher can be heard giving information to police. "He has no idea who shot him. They shot him in the stomach. Came through his back door. He's advising they shot him with his gun. That's the only information he can give me. He's in a lot of pain."
Police searched the area but never found a shooter. They say there weren't any obvious signs of forced entry. The dispatcher stayed on the line until Manley had some help, urging him to keep talking.
Manley was taken to UK Hospital with life threatening injuries. Police say because of those injuries they were unable to get more information from him that morning.
A hospital spokesperson says Manley is no longer listed as a patient at UK Hospital.
