Police Investigate Death, Fire In Pike County

Pikeville, KY - Kentucky State Police detectives and the State Fire Marshall's Office are investigating the death of a Pike County resident in a fire in the rural community of McAndrews.

KSP Post 9 in Pikeville received a 911 call reporting a residential fire on Pond Creek Road in McAndrews. The Pond Creek Fire Department responded to the blaze and later found the victim inside the scorched residence. KSP Detectives M. Adkins and D. Parker, along with an agent from the State Fire Marshall's office were called to the scene.

Officials say the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. No foul play is suspected at this point. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort. The victim, as yet unidentified, was declared dead at the scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Mike Hall.
