LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - USDA's Farm Service Agency reports today that farmers in four counties are eligible for Federal disaster assistance, including low interest emergency loans provided eligibility requirements are met.
Last week, seven Virginia counties were declared disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by extreme drought that occurred from January fist and is continuing.
As a result of the declaration, four Kentucky Counties were named as contiguous counties where eligible family farmers may qualify for loan assistance. They are: Bell, Harlan, Letcher and Pike.
The loan applications for physical and production losses will be received through next April eighth and applications pending on that date may be processed and completed.
Farmers interested in applying for assistance should contact their local FSA county office.
