Petition To Dissolve Ferguson In Clerk's Hands

SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) - A petition containing 173 names has been delivered to Pulaski County Clerk Ralph Troxtell, asking that there be a vote on whether the city of Ferguson be dissolved.

Ferguson is just south of Somerset in south-central Kentucky. It's a fifth-class city with just over 900 residents.

The petition appeared shortly after the city government began discussing implementing a tangible tax. It was to produce more money for the city and would tax citizens on anything licensed through the county clerk's office. The Ferguson city government passed the tax at the August City Council meeting.
